MassTransfer – Commonwealth Commitment

Student Participation Form

Students interested in participating in the Commonwealth Commitment must complete a participation form within their first 15 credits of study at a Massachusetts community college. Talk to your academic advisor for more information and to obtain a student participation form.

At the community college:

When transferring to Massachusetts state university or UMass campus:

  • In the semester immediately following the completion of your associate degree, enroll as a degree-seeking student in a MassTransfer A2B Mapped major (continuous Fall/Spring semesters) at the state university or UMass campus on your ComCom participation form.
    • Additional forms may be required for admission; students should read correspondence sent from the institution.
  • Enroll as a full-time student each semester at your college or university.
  • Maintain a cumulative GPA of 3.00 or above (not including developmental course work).
  • Complete a bachelor’s degree within two years of transferring.

When transferring to Massachusetts College of Art and Design or Massachusetts Maritime Academy:

  • 1.5 years after submitting the Participation Form at the community college, enroll as a degree-seeking student in a MassTransfer A2B Mapped major (continuous Fall/Spring semesters) at the state university or UMass campus on your ComCom participation form.
    • Students may be required to produce a portfolio as part of the acceptance criteria to Massachusetts College of Art & Design.
    • Additional forms may be required for admission; students should read correspondence sent from the institution.
  • Enroll as a full-time student each semester.
  • Maintain a cumulative GPA of 3.00 or above (not including developmental course work).
  • Complete a bachelor’s degree within three years of transferring (may require more than 120 total credits to graduate).
  • Reverse transfer credits back to the community college to complete an associate degree.
